Terms of service
Effective 20 October 2026
Summary
- ClipUp is free. You may use it at home and at work, on as many of your devices as you like.
- What you copy is yours. We never receive it, and you are responsible for what you choose to keep and paste.
- Use it fairly. Don’t copy, resell or tamper with the app, or use it to break the law.
- It comes as is. We work hard to make ClipUp reliable, but we can’t promise it will never lose data, so keep your own copies of anything important.
- App Store copies are also covered by Apple’s standard license terms.
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Celento George (“we”, “us”), the developer of ClipUp. They cover the ClipUp apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad, their keyboard and share extensions, any updates, and this website. By downloading, installing or using ClipUp you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use ClipUp.
If you use ClipUp on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. Your license
ClipUp is free. We give you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to download, install and use ClipUp on any devices you own or control, for personal or work purposes. The app and everything in it, including its code, design, name and icon, remain ours. This license does not give you any rights to our name, logo or trademarks.
If you got ClipUp from the Mac App Store or the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, Apple’s agreement takes precedence for that copy. Apple is not responsible for ClipUp or for supporting it.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute ClipUp, or bundle it with other software, without our written permission;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or decompile the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- remove or change any copyright notices, or interfere with the app’s security features such as encryption or code signing;
- use ClipUp to break the law, to infringe anyone’s rights, or to collect other people’s information without their permission.
4. Your content
Everything you copy, and everything ClipUp keeps in your history, belongs to you or to whoever owns it. We claim no rights in it, and because it stays on your devices, we never see it.
You are responsible for what you choose to copy, keep and paste, including making sure you are allowed to store and reuse it. ClipUp tries to leave out passwords and secrets, as described in the privacy policy, but it can’t recognize every sensitive item. Use the ignored apps list, Pause Recording and locked items for anything you don’t want kept.
Your history is stored only on your device and is encrypted with a key kept in your Keychain. If the file or the key is lost or damaged, we can’t recover it. Back up your device and keep your own copies of anything important.
5. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what ClipUp does with information, and is part of these terms. In short: we collect nothing, and ClipUp only goes online to fetch link previews, to download the image model behind Erase when you first use it, and, in the version from our website, to check for updates.
6. Updates and changes to ClipUp
We may release updates that fix problems, add features, or change or remove existing ones. The version from our website checks for updates automatically unless you turn this off; App Store copies are updated by the App Store. Updates are covered by these terms unless they come with their own.
ClipUp is free and we may stop developing or distributing it at any time. If we do, the copy you have will keep working on your device for as long as your operating system supports it.
7. Other software and services
The version of ClipUp from our website includes Sparkle, an open-source updater released under the MIT license; its license is included with the app. Erase uses LaMa, an open-source image model released under the Apache 2.0 license, which ClipUp downloads from Hugging Face when you first use it. ClipUp relies on features of macOS and iOS provided by Apple, and link previews load pages from the websites you copy links from. We are not responsible for those websites or services, which have their own terms.
8. No warranty
ClipUp is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t promise that ClipUp will be free of errors, that it will save every item you copy, or that it will work with every app.
Some places don’t allow these exclusions. If you live in one, the exclusions apply only as far as the law there permits, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by agreement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue or business, arising from your use of ClipUp or your inability to use it, even if we were told such loss was possible. Because ClipUp is free, our total liability for any claim relating to it is limited to fifty US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that can’t be excluded by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Ending this agreement
You can end this agreement at any time by deleting ClipUp from your devices. Your license ends automatically if you break these terms. Sections 4, 8, 9 and 12 continue to apply after the agreement ends.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when ClipUp gains new features. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using ClipUp after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [country or state], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of [city and country], unless the law of the place you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
13. General
If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about ClipUp.
14. Contact
Questions about these terms are welcome at [support email address], or through the support page.
